Looking for good hands

We are in search of good people.

We need fast nail artists and heaven-sent estheticians.
Our dear esthetician, Shirin, is working at other spa, making it hard to squeeze hours for us.

The Beach Metro

We have just reserved a three-column wide spot.

Our advertising will be on the September issue of the Beach Metro newspaper.

It will be black and white, they asked us $100 extra for colour.

Let's see how it looks.

New competitor and the price list

As the unit was being under construction, we found out that we have a new competitor, just two blocks away from us.
And for some how, they have finished the construction in two weeks and before you know, they are open for business!

It all happened so fast.

And, oh boy, I don't know how they can afford it (it is a real mystery for me), but they do have really low prices on all the services.
So, after long discussion with Monica, we came up with the price list (above). We decided, we have to stay competitive with comepetitive price. It could be a healthy competition that will benefit all our customes.

There's no turning back, we've spent close to one thousand dollars and we have boxes of them. Unless we start burning them to keep us warm at winter, we are stuck with that price list.

In perspective...

Because, not all of us are trained to extend the busy line drawings with coffee stains into a real space, my skills on 3D software just came handy.

In that render, we still had our manicure stations were in the other side of the wall. I wanted to put some cool leather sofa in the spot where now we have the manicure station is now.

From the begining, we wanted a bench system for the pedicure stations, instead of those mechanic massage chairs and not so pretty faberglass sinks.

But soon, we realised it was too much of $$ to build a customized system.

Until, a few of months later, we met Pat, an honest carpenter from Guelph, who helped us get what we want, within the tight tight budget we had. Thnx Pat.

The working drawings...

These were some the drawings we got after a few weekends and too much coffee and tracing papers.
The place seemed just a bit small for all the thing we wanted to jam in.
We needed at least two skin care rooms, big enough for a full size massage chair, 3 pedicure stations, 3 manicure stations, a counter, reception area and a kitchen; there just weren't a square foot to waste.

Thanks to Jin and Austin, we finalized the outline and we took the drawings to the landlord.

Six months ago

Six months ago, that was all it was.
Just a drawing of a few straight lines and a spot for a toilet.

Actually, to be specific, the longer wall on the east, was not even there.
It used to be one big unit including the next door space, now My Bump.

The landlord was planning to rent it out for a lawyer or a dentist as a one big piece.
Luckly, My Bump and us got the timely offers in, and have convinced the landlord that we can put up a wall.

Six months later, it turned into something close to this.

and all the things that glitter...

Here we go.
Finally we are open for business.

It seemed foreverly long and just impossible but after a few months of this and that, we are in BUSINESS!

Still, we have few issues; the AC system is not ready, great, the summer just kicked in with killer sauna weather, and the new sittings for the pedicure bench has not arrived. But, heck, we've already missed the sprining season, no way we gonna miss the summer grunting.
